Yesterday we went to Morgan's Wonderland, near San Antonio which opened in 2010 on the site of the former Longhorn Quarry, and was developed by Gordon Hartman, a former homebuilder from San Antonio; his daughter Morgan, who deals with cognitive and physical challenges, inspired creation of the park.

The park gets everything right when it comes to accommodating those with special needs.  Most of the activities have shade tents, including a very large playground with some modified equipment for those with physical disabilities as well.  Nic was able to swing (one of his favorite activities) without the hot sun beating down.

They have a modified merry-go-round as well, to accommodate wheel chairs in the dragon sled.

There are also some indoor sensory activities.  If I had to characterize, its part amusement park, part playground, and part children's museum and not so large that it takes forever to cover it in one day.

There's also an adjoining water park with similar accommodations.

We arrived back at home around 2:30p today.  I think we were all overjoyed.  Nic ran up the driveway he was excited.
