Today we went to Palo Duro Canyon, South of Amarillo.  Its the 2nd largest canyon in the US next to the Grand Canyon.  We almost didn't get in to the park.  They were having a charity cancer cycling event, and people without reservations were being turned away.  We told the gate attendant our sad story having come all the way from Wisconsin, but that didn't phase her, so we left.  About 1 minute down the road I decided to try again and just ask if we could drive thru and come back out.  Donna had me hang our handicap sticker for added measure.  This time it worked.  We really could've done anything at that point, hiking, etc, up to the point where they closed the road, but that was quite a bit.
