University of Illinois, Urbana

Yesterday afternoon we went for a bike ride around the campus of my Alma Mater, and ate dinner at Papa Dels, which is still around, but has now moved to Neil street.  Unlike other times where it was a weekend or during summer school, this time the campus was in full swing, this being the first week of school.  It was good to see.  I think Donna felt a bit self conscious, not sure what Nic thought, but strangely, as I thought about it this morning, I felt more like Scrooge, taking a visit with the Ghost of Christmas Present.  It was fitting to end our Sabbatical this way, some 44 years ago to the day where my journey began, with the dorm I stayed in those first 2 years still standing, looking a bit odd with new construction all around it.  And in a broader sense, many of the places we traveled to on this journey held past memories.  Some places sadly, were no longer as I remembered them, having changed forever.  Others were new and different.  All of it was replaced tho, by new memories, with the people I love.  It seems that as I was born on the beginning of a decade, my life has changed on the decades as well, and right now I feel like I'm on the beginning of a new adventure.  One where I know the ending, but what happens between now and then is really up to me, and I guess it really always has been.

Home

We arrived back at home around 2:30p today.  I think we were all overjoyed.  Nic ran up the driveway he was excited.
