Hard Labor Creek State Park, near Athens, GA

For the past several days we've been at Hard Labor Creek State Park, just south of Athens, GA.  There was no WiFi and the mobile connection at the park was spotty at best.  I also didn't take any pictures.

Its been hot and very humid.  We spent our 1st day stocking up on groceries and at the beach.  Its amazing to say the water was too warm, when you consider how cold lakes in Wisconsin are, even during the hot summer.

The next day we toured Athens, GA, where we took a nice bike ride on the Oconee River trail, drove by the 40 Watt Club, and Georgia Theatre where the B52s and REM got their start, celebrated Donna's birthday with lunch at the Top of the Hill Grille, and took a video call on the way back to the park to see our granddaughter at her 1st birthday party.  I think we all would've traded this leg of our trip to be magically transported back home for just this one day.  She definitely likes cake frosting.

On Sunday we drove up to Baldwin, Cornelia, Alto, and Mt. Airy GA, continuing our quest for the perfect mountain view.  These towns are further west of the Cherokee Foothills in SC, but still part of the foothills for the Smokeys.  We found the perfect views, but the towns were just not as nice as Hendersonville or Tryon.

Yesterday we traveled to Myrtle Beach State Park.  No house hunting here.  Just relaxing on an ocean beach for the week and celebrating Nic's 20th birthday today.

We arrived back at home around 2:30p today.  I think we were all overjoyed.  Nic ran up the driveway he was excited.
